A Note to the Reader
Before Chapter 1 — what this course is actually about and who it is for
This Book Is Not About AI. It Is About You.
AI is a tool. This course is about how to use it without letting it use you — how to study smarter, write better, and think more clearly. How to apply it honestly within your school's rules. How to use it to prepare for college, careers, and the rest of your life.
The students who will benefit most from AI are the ones who treat it as a thinking partner, not a ghostwriter. They use it to do more of their own thinking, faster. The students who will be hurt by AI are the ones who outsource their thinking to it and graduate without the skills they need. This course is written to help you be the first kind of student.
The four student profiles: Throughout this course, examples address four situations: the college-bound student focused on grades and applications; the career-track student heading toward a trade or direct-to-work path; the student athlete managing academics and competition simultaneously; and the first-generation student navigating high school and what comes next without a family roadmap. Wherever you fit, the tools in this course apply to you.
